Townsend Bowls Club progressed to the semi-finals of the County League by virtue of their comprehensive victory over Rowley Lane.

The team came out on top by two rinks to nil and by a margin of 35 shots. Their top rink won by 28 shots to seven and was skipped by Danny Macro alongside Peter Thomson, Carl Robinson and Jeff Harber.

In the District League, Townsend`s mid-week team came up against a very strong Potters Bar outfit and managed a clean sweep winning on all four rinks and overall.

Townsend picked up 80 points with none to the visitors. The top rink was skipped by Jeff Harber and was made up of David Day, John Pearce and Chas Prior. They won by a very impressive 30 shots to 11 against the visiting captain’s rink.

In the semi-final of the London and Southern Counties Shield, Townsend came across last year's winners Romford and managed to achieve a one rink all draw at home. The away leg had a different outcome, however, with the hosts winning on both rinks.
