St Albans Bowling Club start the new season on Saturday when the Mayor Cllr Aislinn Lee delivers the first bowl at 2pm.

The mayor is Patron of the club. This is followed by the members who will play a friendly game between the Ladies captain’s team (Phyllis Nicholls) and men’s captain’s team (Ted Salvidge). Afterwards tea is served in the clubhouse.

St Albans Bowling Club is running the ‘Bowls 4 Free’ scheme to introduce people to the sport. Each session is for two hours, for four consecutive weeks, by which time a good grasp of the game should be achieved. Places have been in such great demand that the club has had to introduce an extra course to accommodate the applicants.
