Townsend hosted the annual match between London Scottish and the District.

Roger Potter was the skip and played alongside team-mate Ian Forster in a 34-4 victory which helped the district pick up a nine-shot victory.

Townsend produced a memorable fightback to win their county league clash with Hatfield.

Both Townsend rinks were 11-4 down at the half-way stage.

One Townsend rink finished, narrowly losing by two shots on the final end, but the other still had four ends to complete.

Townsend finished up winning the tie by four and the match by two shots overall.

The victorious rink featured Andy Bates, Mike Cowell, Peter Thomson and John Godman.

Meanwhile, Hatfield’s Elvis and Alun Hoskins will take on Colin Mason and Kevin Hull in the Australian Pairs semi-final on Saturday.

Hatfield picked up an 87-64 win over Cheshunt with the top rink featuring Maureen Metcalf, Ray Martin, Helen Winch and Mike Woodhams.

In the county mini finals, Jackie Bell was beaten in the final by Sawbridgeworth’s Natalie Chalcroft after a semi-final victory over Tring’s Linda Boniface.

A group of Hatfield ladies are through to the St Albans LBA’s semi-finals. Mary Banks will compete in the singles while Bell is through to the officers singles. The duo will also compete in the pairs competition.
