Daniel Pudil started and assisted a goal for the Czech Republic in their 2-1 win over Iceland in European Championship Qualifying Group A.

Ragnar Sigurdsson put Iceland ahead in the ninth minute of the game but the Czechs levelled when Pudil’s cross was turned in by Paval Kaderabek just before the interval.

The hosts then went in front in the second period when Emil Hallfredsson turned the ball into his own net.

The Czech Republic were able to see out the contest and the victory keeps them top of the group. Hornets striker Matej Vydra was an unused substitute in the win.

Ikechi Anya helped Scotland complete 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in Group D. The Watford wideman played 88 minutes of Friday’s clash before being replaced by Steven Fletcher.

A goal from Shaun Maloney secured the three points for Scotland who moved into third place in their group.

Daniel Tozser played the full match for Hungary who defeated Finland 1-0 in Group F while Craig Cathcart was an unused substitute as Northern Ireland’s unbeaten recorded in the group was ended after a 2-0 loss against Romania.

Tommie Hoban twice came close to scoring for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s but they were beaten 1-0 by the USA in Marbella.

Dembakwi Yomba put the United States in front after 13 minutes but Ireland fought back and created several chances.

In the final ten minutes, Hoban headed into the side netting before the centre-back crashed a volley against the post.

Hornets goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was an unused substitute as England's Under-21s defeated their Portugal counterparts on Thursday night.

Danny Ings struck twice in the victory at Turf Moor and Carl Jenkinson was also on target for the Young Lions.
