Arthur Woodward was born in Watford.
A fiercely competitive and hugley popular left-half, Woodward made over 430 competitive appearances for the club, a figure that for nearly 40 years was bettered only by Tommy Barnett who appeared in the majority of the same games.
He was a regular in the Main Stand after his retirement - a retirement that had been significantly more comfortable by a sizeable pools win in the 1950s.
