Lewis McGugan wants to “get back out there and perform” after leaving Watford on loan to join Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder has found his first-team opportunities limited at Vicarage Road this season and has made the move north to Hillsborough until January 1.
The former Nottingham Forest player told the Owls’ website: “I’m pleased to sign. This is a great club and a great chance for me to play games and help the team move forward.
“I’ve not played as many games as I want this season so I need to get back out there and perform.
“The main thing is the team and helping them progress. If I can score some goals and help add points to the board, then great.
“I see myself very much as an attacking midfield player and goals have been a massive part of my career. I want to bring that to Sheffield Wednesday.”
McGugan has so far scored a total of 11 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for the Hornets
