Harpenden kept the pressure on Herts Premier Division leaders Radlett after a two-wicket victory over Welwyn Garden City on Saturday.

Welwyn opted to bat first after winning the toss but the decision backfired as they were bowled out for just 135 in 47.4 overs.

Will Jones returned figures of four for 41 while Richard Darwin took three for 15 and Ben Frazer finished with two for 52.

Harpenden made hard work of the run chase but eventually got home for the loss of eight wickets in 45.4 overs.

Opener Gregg Cooper scored 27 and Frazer chipped in with 19. But there were important contributions from Jake Pankhurst (31) and Simon White (19) lower down the order as they edged to the win.

Harpenden Seconds suffered a six-wicket defeat to Welwyn Garden City Seconds in Division Two B.

The side struggled to a total of 164 for nine from their innings. Welwyn had few problems chasing down the lowly total for the loss of four wickets.

Harpenden Thirds had to settle for a draw against Langleybury Seconds in Division Four B.

After winning the toss, Harpenden batted first and were in impressive form as they scored a total of 246 for five.

Benjamin Cawood produced an exceptional knock hitting 106 off 113 balls. Mark Fettes scored 78 and Bryn Luffman added 24.

Langleybury did not really threaten the total but held out for a draw on 210 for seven.

Jason Guest returned figures of four for 50 and there was one wicket apiece for Sam Boothby, Jack Killen and Arthur Garrett.

The Fourths defeated Reed Thirds by three wickets. in Division Eight A.

Reed were restricted to 179 for nine and Harpenden reached the target for the loss of seven wickets.

Harpenden Fifths thrashed Northwood Town Thirds by 230 runs in Regional Division A West.

The team reached 268 for seven from their innings and destroyed their opponents as Northwood Town were skittled out for a mere 38.

Harpenden Sixths earned an 86-run win over Hatfield Hyde Thirds in Regional Division C East.

Harp scored 244 for four and Hatfield were wiped out for 158 in 40.2 overs.
