Watch George Byers’ spectacular winner and the other goals from Watford’s Under-21 side’s 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest yesterday.
Harry Kewell’s youngsters broke the deadlock in the second period when Bernard Mensah turned a rifled a shot home from the edge of the area.
However, Forest quickly hit back as, at the third attempt, Gerry McDonagh prodded the ball over the line. Experienced defenders Miguel Britos and Essaid Belkalem did not cover themselves in glory in the build-up to the goal.
But the Hornets managed to clinch their first win of their Professional Development League 2 South thanks to Byers who lashed an unstoppable 30-yard shot into the top corner.
