Matej Vydra scored his second goal for Reading on Saturday but couldn’t help the Royals avoid a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
The Czech Republic international broke the deadlock in the 14th minute as he controlled a deflected shot and slotted past Forest goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.
That proved the high point of a disappointing afternoon for the Royals. They conceded an equaliser in the 20th minute when Chris O’Grady forced a shot past Ali Al-Habsi.
Portuguese international Nelson Oliveira then fired the home side in front with a stunning strike before adding a third in the second period.
Forest were reduced to ten men in the 66th minute when Jack Hobbs was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Vydra but Reading were unable to mount a comeback.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Daniel Pudil started and completed Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers while Diego Fabbrini featured for 63 minutes as Middlesbrough defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0.
Gabriele Angella was once again as unused substitute as Queens Park Rangers beat Leeds United 1-0 thanks to a Charlie Austin goal.
In League One, powerful striker Uche Ikpeazu played the final 17 minutes of Port Vale’s 2-1 win over Rochdale.
Sean Murray wasn’t included in the Wigan Athletic squad as the Latics drew 0-0 with Southend United on Saturday.
In Spain full-back Juanfran played 90 minutes as Deportivo La Coruna defeated Las Palmas 2-0 in La Liga.
While in Portugal Miguel Layun started and completed Porto’s 1-0 victory against Tondela Primeira Liga on Saturday.
