Watford’s deadline day signings Abdoulaye Doucoure and Adalberto Penaranda both featured for loan club Granada last night as the Spanish side were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid.

Eighteen-year-old striker Penaranda started for the Pozzo-owned club and impressed during his 81 minutes on the field.

He was replaced by Doucoure with the game level at 1-1 but a late strike from former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric earned Real victory.

Hornets striker Odion Ighalo was honoured prior to the game after he helped Granada rise from the third tier to La Liga during his several loan spells in Spain.

Elsewhere in Spain, Juanfran, who played at right back, started and completed Deportivo La Coruna’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Gijon.

Across the border Miguel Layun grabbed his 16th assist of the season but couldn’t help Porto avoid defeat to FC Arouca.

The Mexican teed up Vincent Aboubakar’s 14th minute equaliser but Porto went on to lose the game 2-1.

Back in England, Gabriele Angella was an unused substitute in Queens Park Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town while Matej Vydra featured for 79 minutes during Reading’s 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Daniel Pudil played 90 minutes as Sheffield Wednesday continued their push for promotion from the Championship by recording a 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Saturday.

In League One, striker Uche Ikpeazu came on a 78th substitute in Blackpool’s 1-0 win over Gillingham.
