It’s safe to say Giedrius Arlauskis’ loan spell at Espanyol hasn’t gone exactly as the Lithuanian stopper would’ve planned. He has conceded eight goals in 135 minutes of La Liga action and now faces up to a month out due to injury.
Arlauskis joined the Spanish club on a six-month loan deal last month after making just two first team appearances for the Hornets.
His debut ended in a 6-0 defeat to Real Madrid and 45 minutes into his second game for the club, Saturday’s loss against Real Sociedad, the 28-year-old was withdrawn due to injury with the score at 2-0.
Subsequent tests have shown Arlauskis has torn a muscle in his right thigh and he now faces a spell on the sidelines.
“Arla will miss the first team's next matches after it was confirmed this morning that the Lithuanian goalkeeper is suffering from a torn right adductor,” Espanyol confirmed on their club website.
“He will be out for between three and four weeks.”
