Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores does not understand the need to be negative after their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace and insists people need to be realistic about their achievements this season.

The Hornets missed out on a place in the FA Cup Final after losing 2-1 to the Eagles at Wembley. But the club are safe in the Premier League and Flores believes there are plenty of reasons to be upbeat.

The Spaniard said: “The players feel good and positive. Now of course everyone is disappointed but we need to be realistic.

"I don’t think anyone at Watford was expecting to be in the semi-final at the start of the season so I love to share my time and talk with realistic people.

"At the start of the season the main target was to keep in the Premier League because this is most important for the future of Watford."

Watford Observer:

There have been widespread reports suggesting owner Gino Pozzo is considering replacing Flores this summer due to their downturn in form during the second half of the league season.

Some fans have also been critical of the team's style of play and there was no shortage of negativity on social media following the team's performance at Wembley.

But Flores is adamant everyone at the club should be happy at achieving their target of survival and he does not understand any pessimism at the club.

The head coach said: “We started this match safe in the main competition so there are reasons to be happy, to enjoy and be positive. I don’t understand why sometimes we need to be negative."
