Departing head coach Quique Sanchez Flores has described Troy Deeney as part of the soul of the Watford team amid reports Leicester City are planning a move for the striker.

The Hornets captain has played a key role in helping the side stay in the Premier League this season.

Deeney has netted 12 goals in the league and has reportedly attracted the interest of the new champions.

Watford Observer:

Flores, who is leaving this summer, expects the club to build on this season's success and says the Watford striker is an integral part of the side.

Flores said: “Troy Deeney is important and part of the soul of this team. He is very important but I think I’ve said before nobody is irreplaceable here.

"But Deeney is important because he knows Watford and is one of the main players of this team.

“For sure the idea of the club is to grow and improve and add players. If you have good players you keep the best ones you have and it would be an excellent mix."
