Hannah Macleod clocked up her 50th GB performance as the team continued their preparations for the Rio Olympics with a Test series win over world champions Holland this week.

Macleod came on as a substitute to rack up her half century of caps during the two-game series in Amsterdam.

She was one of two St Albans Hockey Club players in the squad with Ellie Watton also selected for the initial squad as GB won the first game and drew the second.

After clocking up her 50 caps, Macleod tweeted: “A milestone makes you stop, reflect and appreciate... Thank you to all who inspire me to give all that I have.”

Meanwhile, St Albans Hockey Club have appointed Trinidad and Tobago international midfielder Dillet Gilkes as their first club development member and club coach.

He comes with a wealth of experience, having played in three Commonwealth Games.

Gilkes will play in the men’s indoor and outdoor first teams and as a coach he will be leading the club's development sessions and colts’ sessions.

He said: “I am over the moon to be part of such an ambitious club."

Saints’ men’s head coach, England and Great Britain men’s team manager Andy Halliday, said: “Dillet’s addition to our squad is a major boost as we look to build towards achieving a sustainable National League place.

"I would like to thank our corporate partners, without whom this would not have been possible.”
