Dean Austin has thanked Watford and their “wonderful barmy army” of fans for a “truly magical last 18 months”.
We reported last week that the assistant coach’s latest spell at Vicarage Road had come to an end following Walter Mazzarri’s appointment as Quique Sanchez Flores’ successor as Hornets boss.
A former schoolboy at Vicarage Road who also worked under Brendan Rodgers, Austin returned to the club in January 2015 and helped guide the Hornets back to the top-flight alongside Slavisa Jokanovic and remained at the club as part of Flores’ staff as Watford finished 13th in the Premier League and reached an FA Cup semi-final last season.
Austin has passed on his thanks in the following three tweets:
Morning, I just wanted to thank everyone @WatfordFC for the truly magical last 18 months, promotion and staying in the Premier League. #COYH

People know my affection for this great club and my association playing in the youth from 12 years old. I hope this is just the start. #COYH
