Watford target Mario Lemina will be staying at Juventus this summer, the club has announced, to end speculation over his future.
Lemina, a defensive midfielder, had been linked with a move in the region of €20-million to Vicarage Road, with Arsenal and Leicester also interested in the Gabon international.
But with the departure of Paul Pogba from Turin, and an injury to fellow midfielder Claudio Marchisio, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has been convinced to keep Lemina at the club.
Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta said yesterday: “[Mario] Lemina is a welcome confirmation, high-level teams asked for him but he’s an important element for us, a great prospect in whom we strongly believe."
He spent last season on loan at the Old Lady, but made only seven starts in Serie A, before turning a loan deal from Marseille permanent in April for a fee of around €10 million.
