Adlene says winning will be on the minds of him and his Watford teammates when Chelsea arrive at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Antonio Conte’s side are tipped for an outside shot of the Premier League title they last won in 2015, and got off to a winning start on Monday with a 2-1 win over West Ham.

But the Hornets have no intention of playing for a point against the Blues, according to the Algerian, who insisted they will be looking to begin on the front foot in both of their tough upcoming back-to-back home league games, with Arsenal to follow next weekend.

He said: “We’ve not really set any points targets, it’s going to be tough with teams like this coming up but we are at home.

“We are in the Premier League though and this is what we want; you don’t need motivation for these kinds of games. These are the games you want to play in and win.”

In what has been a summer of change at Vicarage Road with the arrival of new head coach Walter Mazzarri, there has also been something of a transformation in West London.

Mazzarri’s compatriot Conte joined the club last month as they look to bounce back from an embarrassing tenth-placed finish last season.

Guedioura feels his lack of time at the helm of the Blues may be something the Hornets can capitalise on.

He said: “It is the same for us and Chelsea are at the same stage as us with a new manager.

“We really want to show the fans we can compete in matches like these, and win them as well.”
