Sunderland's Younes Kaboul is currently undergoing a medical with Watford, and should sign permanently with the club today.

The Black Cats announced last night they had accepted a bid from the Hornets to talk to the 30-year-old, who has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League.

If Kaboul's transfer is completed by 5pm, he can go into their squad for tomorrow's home game with Chelsea, and will be match fit having featured in Sunderland's opening-day defeat at Manchester City where he played the full 90 minutes.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's derby clash with Middlesbrough this afternoon, Sunderland boss David Moyes said: "We got an enquiry from Watford and when we did, Younes also came and saw me and said if this was right, he would like to go back to Watford.

"He wanted to go back - his family home is there and his choice would be to go back - so reluctantly, we agreed to it."

A veteran of the Premier League, Kaboul first signed for Tottenham Hotspur in 2007 from Auxerre, and he is now entering his 10th season in the English top flight.
