St Albans Hockey Club’s Ladies Firsts had to settle for a share of the spoils in their first home game of the season as they drew 2-2 with Southgate.

The St Albans set piece worked well throughout the match and Adele Sammons converted two penalty corners for her side’s goals.

The match also marked the start of a new sponsorship deal with Hodders Law Solicitors.

Company director, James Tompkins, was in attendance and presented the club’ new shirts to head coach and Olympic gold medal winner Hannah Macleod.

The Men’s First team carried on their unbeaten start to the season as they beat title rivals City of Peterborough 5-2.

John Mould (2), Adam Wilson (2) and Charlie Bowskill got the goals for St Albans who host Chelmsford in their next match.

Meanwhile, the Ladies Seconds faced an away match against Holcombe Seconds and secured a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Sarah Embrey (2) and Fiona Mulder.

It was a similarly successful weekend for the club’s Thirds as they secured a 2-1 win against Sandy and Shefford thanks to Liz Cleverley’s double.

The Ladies Fourth’s battled hard to come from behind and draw 3-3 against Blueharts thanks to goals from Gemma Little, Ellen Crick and Sarah Robinson.
