St Albans Hockey Club brought the curtain down on their indoor season in fine fashion.
The Ladies’ Firsts set the tone for their club-mates as they claimed a fourth place finish in the EHL Division One.
Draws against Ipswich, Harleston Magpies and Chelmsford added to an impressive 7-3 win over Brooklands to ensure they went unbeaten throughout the weekend.
Meg Crowson was on particularly good form and hit 20 goals to finish as the tournament’s top scorer.
Meanwhile, the Men’s Firsts travelled to Nottingham for the second weekend of the super sixes Division One as they continued their fight against relegation.
Heavy defeats to Brooklands (10-3) and Holcombe (11-0) complicated their survival hopes on Saturday.
However, Sunday brought renewed optimism as they came out on top of a scrappy affair with bottom of the table Cannock to record a 5-2 win.
The victory left St Albans needing a draw from their final game against local rivals West Herts to guarantee they remained in the division.
A dreadful first half saw Saints go into the interval trailing 3-0, but an excellent response saw the Tangerines turn things around.
Playing on the counter attack, St Albans dominated the second period and ran out comfortable 8-3 winners.
