Troy Deeney took to socical media last night to say he "can't wait" to be back playing, having missed out on a place in Watford's tour group currently visiting Austria.
The Hornets are spending the week in the mountains, staying in the small municipality of Going am Wilden Kaiser and face Viktoria Plzen later today in the first of two friendlies during their time away.
Deeney missed out on the travelling party despite several other injured first-teamers, including Mauro Zarate and Craig Cathcart, travelling to the continent.
There is no indication of any issue between the club and their 29-year-old captain, and the Watford Observer has contacted the club for comment and is awaiting a response.
It has also been reported elsewhere the striker has been left in the UK because of surgery he recently underwent on a troublesome groin problem.
Deeney himself took to Instagram last night to say he "can't wait to be back playing", alongside a picture of himself in rehabilitation at Watford's London Colney training base.
