Brice Dja Djedje has continued his attack on Watford, accusing the club of treating him like an animal.

The Ivorian’s anger stems from being omitted from the Watford squad for the 2017/18 Premier League season and not being allowed to go out on loan in the summer.

Having learned he would not be part of Marco Silva’s 25-man squad through the media, Djedje has left no doubt about how he feels about the snub.

“There is one real problem in all of this, and that is that I learned in the media. It is unbelievable,” he told L'Equipe.

“There are certain boundaries. It gets to a point where you can’t keep quiet anymore. I am being treated like an animal.”

The 26-year-old says being left out of the squad has had an impact on him and training with no chance of getting game time is a challenge.

“I am not happy. Having to train during the week, to just sit on my sofa during the weekend is horrible,” he said.

“It is not because I get a monthly salary that I should just accept this. Otherwise that would mean that I really don’t care.

“It has been two months since I have been prevented from doing the job that I love, without any explanation. I can’t go on like this.”

The comments are unlikely to do Djedje any favours if he does hold ambitions of making it into the Watford squad when Silva can make changes in January.

Playing for Watford again seems to be something the defender has little interest in, however, and his heart is set on leaving Vicarage Road.

“I have to leave. Either on loan or permanently. I want to rediscover my hunger for competition. I have been ready since last December, and I can’t wait anymore,” he said.

“The craziest thing in all this, is that clubs made offers to Watford to loan me, but the club refused them.”
