Watford defender Christian Kabasele has given an impassioned view on why the Hornets should keep head coach Marco Silva, who is strongly reported to be subject to a second bid from Everton.

The 26-year-old defender, who played his second game for Belgium last night, was never likely to do anything other than come out in support of the Hornets boss - but in saying the club must do "everything possible" to keep him at Vicarage Road, made it clear how highly he regards the Portuguese coach.

Kabasele is one of a number of players to have shown a marked improvement under Silva's reign so far, which has convinced the Toffees to reportedly come back with a second offer to tempt him to the North West.

It is understood Silva himself is increasingly open to the idea, after just 12 games in the hot seat at Watford, despite the inevitable accusations of disloyalty which would follow.

His departure would be both a huge kick in the teeth to the club's board, who backed him heavily in the summer, and the likes of Richarlison and Andre Carrillo whose moves to Vicarage Road were both heavily influenced by his input.

In addition, it could easily unsettle those existing players who he has helped to improve in such a short space of time.

"Everybody could see he changed a lot of things in the team," Kabasele told Sky Sports News. "We had quite a lot of the same players but we improved a lot. That means he worked very well with us.

"When you have somebody like this and other teams are looking for him it's important that Watford try to do everything possible to keep him."

Sam Allardyce told TalkSPORT this morning that the Toffees' indecisiveness led him to rule himself out of the running to take over at Goodison Park, and a feeling of "hesistancy" from the Everton hierarchy towards his appointment.

Former defender Richard Dunne also told the radio station the club should break the bank to bring Silva in should they want him, but that reported targets Carlo Ancelotti and Diego Simeone should be prioritised if they are available.

"They have had enough time to sort it out and it is a surprise coming back into the Premier League (after the international break) and them still having no manager," Dunne said.

"If they want Silva from Watford, they should pay whatever is needed to be paid and get it done.

"The performances have not been good enough this season and they need to turn it around quickly."
