Mason magic guides Probuild to Shield success


Joel Mason scored four goals in Probuild's 6-0 win over ten-man Welwyn Garden City Reserves in the Benevolent Shield in the North and Mid Herts League.

Steve Underwood and Dan Gregory were also on target in the one-sided victory.

In the Benevolent Cup quarter-finals, Global were comfortable 5-1 winners over Probuild Reserves.

Goals from Chris Palmer, Chris Peacock, Rob Day, Rob Holmes and John Sheehan earned the win, with Luke Gumble scoring for Probuild.

City Hearts moved into the semi-finals with a 3-1 win over St Ippolyts. The opposition took a half-time lead through David Thomas but after going down to ten men, City Hearts came back into the game and top scorer James Campbell's hat-trick inspired the comeback.

Wodson Park Seniors lost a tight game 1-0 to Welwyn Garden City A with the only goal coming from Emmanual Adyesaja.

Inn on the Green lost 2-1 after extra time to St Albans Wanderers. With the scores level at one apiece at full-time, St Albans managed to find a late winner, with their goals coming from Ben Knapper and John Sergeant. Andy Lee, a deadline day signing, got off the mark for Inn on the Green on his debut.

In the Premier Division, Potters Bar Crusaders continued their good form with a 5-0 win over Colney Athletic.

Mark Mills grabbed a hat-trick while Michael Nelson and Dan Chapman also got on the scoresheet.

London Colney A won 2-0 against Baldock Town Letchworth A, with goals from Adeyoyin Adeyinka and Mark Gallagher.

In Division One, Warriors XI beat Bedwell Rangers Under-21s 4-2, with goals from Steve Eldridge (2), Scott Taylor and Conor Ozgul. Will Thomas and Steve Gibbs replied for Bedwell.
