Malky's message after season ticket prices revealed

By Frank Smith

It has been a dramatic first season in management for me on and off the pitch, but I am very much enjoying and relishing the challenge of being the manager of Watford FC.

When I was appointed back in the summer of 2009 I knew the financial situation at the Club and the potential for some difficult times this season. However, my aim for this season has always been for us to be competitive on the pitch.

On the whole, I feel we’ve achieved this and at Vicarage Road especially I have been delighted with some of the performances and results. I’ve enjoyed them not only due to some positive results but also for the matchday experience - the noise and atmosphere that can be created is really a true benefit to the team.

It was pleasing to see such a large number of you renew your season tickets last year. I’m continually bowled over by the support we receive away from home as well, but I’m looking to make Vicarage Road a fortress in every sense of the word. If we can do that, we give ourselves a real fighting chance in a competitive league. Having support and a vocal backing goes hand in hand with this and makes us stronger in every way.

I’m acutely aware that football is expensive so your backing is never taken for granted. I know many of you sacrifice other things to support us and that is appreciated more than ever. If you can commit to supporting us during 2010/11 then one thing you can guarantee again is that the team I send out will give their all for the cause.

We’ve had quite a change in players over the last couple of years and we’ve had to be quite clever with our recruitment. We feel however, that bringing in hungry, young players with plenty of potential is the way forward for this Football Club.

Hopefully you’ll see the results of some of this next season, alongside our homegrown players who have progressed through our outstanding Academy.

Both on and off the pitch we have good people at the Club doing their utmost to move Watford FC forward. I do truly feel we’re progressing and moving away from the difficult recent times we’ve felt.

I would like to finish by thanking every single one of you for your support so far this season, it can never be underestimated. However, now is the time to look to the future and we’d very much like you all to be a part of that.

We’re all working together for the good of this Football Club, but we can only really do that with your support, so I hope to see you in the stands again come August.

Best Wishes

Malky Mackay
