Watford fans’ favourite Lloyd Doyley is hoping young and old will be able to join him in celebrating his testimonial year, which kicks off in just three weeks time.
The first of many events will be ‘Lloyd Doyley’s Family Gameshow Extravaganza’ which takes place at Area Nightclub in Watford on Sunday, March 18 at 2.30pm.
The afternoon of fun and games will be a chance for supporters to interact with Watford players and staff.
Some fans will be drawn at random to join Doyley and other players on the stage for the different gameshows lined up.
There will be opportunities to win Watford-related prizes and after the main event, there will be several activities for the children in attendance, such as Wii competitions and gladiator-style stick battles on podiums.
Doyley said: "We have a few little events coming up. The first is a fun day and it is for all the family so hopefully a lot of people will come and enjoy themselves."
The defender, who comes from Hackney, is a product of the club’s youth system and made his debut in September 2001.
The 29-year-old has gone on to make 356 appearances for the Hornets and his only goal, which came against QPR in December 2009, is a memory few Watford fans will forget.
Doyley said: "I love being here; this is my home now and I have seen a lot of players and managers come through and everyone knows me around the club."
"When I started out I didn’t think I would still be here after ten years. There are not many that do it now," he continued.
"At the time that I was coming through the ranks, we actually had Alec Chamberlain, whose testimonial I played in, and Nigel Gibbs so it does happen a bit here.
"But I never knew where I would be and I am grateful to be here and still playing a good standard of football."
Doyley’s first testimonial event, which will be hosted by Watford fan and TV presenter Andy Collins, costs £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s. Tickets can be bought using the link below or by ringing 0844 856 1881.
