Semi-final spot for St Albans Ladies

St Albans City Ladies reached the semi-finals of the league cup after a 3-2 win over Bedwell Rangers.

Early pressure was constant on the Bedwell goal and before long Claudia Hutton made a beautiful run up the left wing before finishing with a powerful strike.

Christina Freestone then added the second after a well-placed pass from Hutton. Bedwell put some pressure on the City defence getting a goal to end the first half 2-1 up.

The second period continued with City dominant on the pitch. But Kelly Aubrey was forced to make a good save to avoid Bedwell levelling the score.

The midfield worked hard and enabled Freestone, just back on the field having been off injured, to increase the lead with a superb knock low around the Bedwell keeper.

Bedwell fought hard and after a scramble on the edge of the box managed to score again in the final minutes but City held out for the win.
