St Albans Ladies held to draw

St Albans City Ladies were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Offley and Stopsley.

The visitors took the lead with their first attack. They broke the offside trap and a shot hit the post but the ball was tucked away from the rebound.

City’s below par performance was only lit up when Christina Freestone’s well struck shot crashed off the cross bar for Holly Sheridan to tap in from two yards out.

The first half continued in the same way with City unable to keep the ball on the floor which allowed Offley to keep the pressure up. A free-kick for City Ladies, not long before half time, saw a cracking 30-yard shot from Molly Slade hit the back of the net.

The second period again saw Offley pressure City Ladies all over the pitch which resulted in a long ball over the top which was converted for the equaliser.

The rest of the match saw City struggle to gain a grip on the contest and they did well to hold out for the draw.
