Bright start to the year for Harpenden tennis player Ed Corrie

Harpenden tennis player Ed Corrie has started the year in a promising fashion.

The 25-year-old will go into the next round of the Aegon GB Pro- Series, having defeated fourth seed, Dan Smethurst 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the Wirral round of the competition.

He will now go in to the next round as the player to beat having recording back-to-back titles so far this year.

This consistency also led to Corrie’s entry into the world’s top 400 for the first time in his career.

The initial victory for the Gosling based tennis player came in Sheffield, defeating Swiss Davis Cup squad member Sandro Ehrat in straight sets, giving him his maiden senior tour title.

Corrie then took his winning form on to Wirral a week later to make his third consecutive final.
