London Colney had to settle for a goalless draw at London Tigers in the South Midlands Premier Division.

In the first minute the Blueboys nearly snatched the lead when Danny Fitzgerald played a neat pass to Martin Collins whose firm low drive slipped only inches wide of Jamie Adim's right hand post with him rooted to his line.

New signing Jimmy Hartley, from Stevenage, made a good run towards goal and slipped the ball to Collins whose low effort was saved by Adim.

A Jack Woods cross from the left saw London Tigers defender Jonathan Davit head towards his own net but the keeper managed to save the ball on the line to stop London Colney from taking the lead.

Hartley had a couple of shots on goal including one which whistled past Adim’s right hand post.

Woods fired over the bar after being well placed and then Collins had a effort saved whilst Greg Shaw also went close.

For London Tigers Pedro Cotelo made a good run on the Blueboys goal and his fine strike flew wide of Charlie May’s post just before the break.

At the start of the second half Dan Power played a free-kick into the box which Greg Shaw knocked down for Woods to fire over the bar after being well placed ten yards.

At the other end, May had to make a smart save to his left from a firm strike from Redion Fega and also did well to block a effort on goal with his legs from a shot by Jon Muzzi.

Fitzgerald made a surging run and he laid the ball off to Collins who saw his low strike on goal pushed away by Adim and his follow up was blocked by a defender two yards out.

The visitors pressed for a winner in the last ten minutes when Fitzgerald set up Collins but his effort flew wide of the post.

A couple of minutes later the roles were reversed when Collins played the ball to Fitzgerald and his firm low strike brushed the outside of the far post with Adim beaten.

In the last minute of the game a free-kick by Collins saw the ball break for Fitzgerald inside the box but this time his angled shot was pushed around the post by Adim.

The Blueboys entertain Hadley at home on Saturday in their next match.

The Reserve match against AFC Dunstable was called off because their opponents could not raise a team whilst London Colney Blues lost 5-0 to Maple Cross in the County Cup.

London Colney Colts Under-9s suffered a 2-1 defeat in a very tight match away to Whetstone Wanderers Pumas.

Will Andiyapan scored the Colney goal, and also went very close with a 25-yard free-kick striking the bar. Alex Paterson was named man-of-the-match.
