St Albans RFC stalwart David Gilroy received a lifetime achievement award at the Herts Sports Partnership Service to Sport Awards.
The event, now in its tenth year, is run by the Herts Sports Partnership to recognise the efforts of volunteers and clubs across the county.
Gilroy joined St Albans in 1985 and has undertaken countless roles including player, vice president, photographer and archivist.
He has also influenced sport in St Albans and helped set up the PoolTooSmall group which campaigned for changes to the Westminster Lodge swimming pool.
His and the group’s efforts resulted in the largest 25m regional competition pool in Herts being built when the centre underwent £25m development.
