St Albans Girls School’s Amy Platten finished an impressive year on a high by winning the British Judo Association Under-15 national title.
The teenager won all her fights with controlled and explosive Judo throwing all her opponents for ippon, the maximum score, using O Uchi Gari, Uchi Mata and Ko Soto Gake.
Becoming the British champion has earned automatic selection for the England pre-cadets squad. This competition attracts Great Britain’s most promising judoka, who competed at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield for the British Championships for pre-cadets and cadets.
Athletes travelled from across the UK to battle on the mat to win the prestigious title of British champion.
