Former Premier League goalkeepers Richard Lee and David Button will be helping to provide free coaching at the launch of a new academy in St Albans this week.

Ex-Watford goalkeeper Lee and former Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Button, who are now Brentford team-mates, will be meeting youngsters at the launch of GK Icon St Albans on Wednesday.

The latest GK Icon centre was due to open last Wednesday but poor weather saw the launch pushed back a week.

The goalkeeping academy will be based at Harvesters FC in Smallford, St Albans, however a waterlogged pitch will see the first session on Wednesday take place at Sandridge FC, in Spencer Recreation Ground.

The sessions will be run between 6pm and 8pm by Crystal Palace’s Head Academy Goalkeeping Coach Gary Phillips.

GK Icon, which was created by Lee several years ago, has goalkeeping schools across the UK and abroad, including countries such as USA, Canada and Australia.
