The Short Mat season is coming to a close at Harpenden Bowling Club with the last matches in the inter club competitions this weekend.

The finals will be held on March 30 of the various singles and pairs competitions.

More than 50 members have been attending any of the friendly sessions, five per week, and three teams have represented Harpenden in the Barnet League.

The club also has six players that regularly play for the County Short Mat team. These are Ken and Sue Murray, Pauline and John Taylor, Eileen Prior and Liz Bradley. The County got to the quarter finals in the Inter County Competition but lost against Somerset.

Harpenden members are also represented in the national finals with Ken and Sue Murray and Steve Hipperson playing in the triples, Pauline Taylor playing in the singles, pairs, fours and mixed fours.
