Harpenden B claimed a 41-35 win over Hertford Castle in the national over 60s mixed fours competition.
The four of Linda Newby, Rob Newby, Janet Hubball and Tony Redford had a good start, scoring three shots on the first end and maintained their lead throughout to win 17-11.
The other four of Dena Roberts, John Williams, Linda Brooks and David Brooks stormed ahead from the start and were 19-2 up after ten ends. The team lost their way and were pegged back to 24-24 but Harpenden still came out on top overall.
The other Harpenden team in this competition also won 45-32 away at Rosedale.
The rink with Bob Howell, Lorna Thomson, Beryl Birch and Colin Driscoll went down 19-18 but the other rink, Debbie Turner, Avery Hills, Noel Roberts and John Millins won 27-13.
In the national senior men’s singles, Redford won 21-13 against Kevin Hull at Hatfield.
In the London & Southern Counties triples, Noel Roberts, Ken Murray, Tony Redford lost 15-13 to a triple from Barton-le-Clay.
The team of Val Thomson, Viv Dale, Pauline Taylor and Val Christiaans beat Batchwood 26-18 in the first game of the ladies county league.
In the friendly match away at Shire Park, Harpenden were beaten 102-67 but their top rink was Tony Smith, Lorna Thomson and Lyn Roberts.
