Batchwood Hall’s Kate Horner clinched a 21-13 win over Garston's Audrey Shuttleworth in the quarter-finals of the county unbadged singles.

But Horner lost to Judy West 21-17 in the district officers singles competition.

Liz Schlatter defeated Elaine King in the ladies district singles competition 21-10.

In a very close game against Rowley Lane, the Batchwood triples team of Teresa Wood, Nora Endericks and Pat Savage won 14-13 in the preliminary round of the district triples.

Adrian Baddams and Jim Head beat Geoff Inglesby and Glyn Williams at Hemel Hempstead in the district pairs 20-14.

Batchwood played a three rink mid-week match against Welwyn & District and came out on top on all three rinks, winning 68-37. Top rink was Jim Gibb, Cliff Springle, Harry Pitchley and David Waters (28-11).

The mixed match between Hatfield and Batchwood finished with the opposition winning by a margin of 29 shots.

Batchwood lost on three of the five rinks, drew on one rink and won the fifth. The victorious rink was Brenda Aris, Bob Aris, Terry Chandler and John Harvey (21-10).

Hemel Hempstead were the latest visitors to play at Batchwood and had a comfortable 104-85 victory over the hosts. Batchwood’s top rink was Jim Head, Stan Endericks, Bernard Lusby and Dave Norrell (24-17).

Batchwood Ladies played Dunstable on Monday and won 43-38 with the top rink being Horner, Wendy Rowell, Tricia Brady and Christine Vickers (23-14).
