London Colney were held to a 1-1 draw away to Bush Hill Rangers in their final friendly on Saturday.

The Blueboys’ goal came through Jimmy Warner but Rocheim Stewart struck for Rangers to ensure the game finished level.

Colney start their South Midlands Premier Division campaign this weekend with a home game against Tring Athletic.

Manager Jim Nichols took his squad to play Letchworth Garden City Eagles last Thursday and after three periods of 30 minutes, the team eventually won 4-3.

London Colney found themselves a goal down when the Eagles were awarded a penalty which was duely dispatched into the bottom right hand corner. The Blueboys did not take long to hit back when a free-kick by Harvey Scott saw Shaun Murphy flick the ball on for Jason Nicolau to head home.

Jimmy Hartley almost made it 2-1 but his strike was tipped over the bar by the keeper. But the Blueboys took the lead when Adam Halford sent in a corner and Murphy headed on for Ryan Halil to tuck the ball home at the far post. Letchworth levelled the game up with an equaliser just before the break.

Hartley was brought down outside the area after the restart and he curled the free-kick into the net to restore their lead.

But the Eagles drew level once again as they replied with a free-kick of their own.

It was 4-3 to London Colney when Martin Collins headed against the bar but Matt Tillbrook followed up to tuck away the rebound effort.

In the third 30 minute period Collins hit the crossbar following a Harry Sedgley corner kick whilst Nicolau had a effort disallowed for a very marginal offside decision.

In a midweek match, London Colney Reserves lost 2-0 at Welwyn Garden City.
