London Colney came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Tring Athletic in their South Midlands Premier Division opener on Saturday.

The Blueboys started the match well with Martin Collins forcing a save from Tring keeper, Matt Evans.

Collins also made another effort which whizzed past the far post before Stewart King played in an unmarked Chris Vardy who then gave Tring a 1-0 lead through a calm stroke past Gavin Simpson.

The Blueboys then took charge of the game with some decent passing which led to a chance from Gallagher, which was cleared by Oliver Butler for a goal kick.

Tring then folded under the pressure when a passing move down the left saw Jimmy Warner get around his marker and sweep over a low cross where Gallagher drew the Blueboys level in the 58th minute of the game.

There were further chances for Jimmy Hartley and Spencer Clarke-Mardell, which went past the post and over the crossbar respectively.

Tring looked most likely to score when Vinnie Iannone, faced with an open goal, sent a header sailing over the Blueboys goal.

London Colney mounted a final push on the Tring goal with Collins’ low effort being saved by Evans.
