St Albans Seconds were bowled out with 137 and suffered a one-wicket defeat at the hands of Bishop’s Stortford in Division Four.

The Thirds returned to winning ways beating a sorry Baldock Seconds side by eight wickets in Division Seven.

Although hosts Baldock initially suggested a strong batting return on a sloping ground, Saints debutant Ben Adshead made the breakthrough taking two wickets.

Richard O’Toole also took a wicket but Amit Rajani stole the show with a superb bowling display which saw him claim seven Baldock wickets as they were dismissed for 122.

By the time Richard Eames was bowled out with 30 and Steve Ferguson with 42, victory was in sight for the visitors.

Bowling hero Rajani added 31 not out and Jack Ypey’s 16 runs from six balls secured a vital win for St Albans.

Harpenden were held to a Premier Division draw with Bishop’s Stortford.

Harp finished on 210 for six with their opponents holding on to survive on 203 for nine.
