London Colney Blues Reserves eased to a 3-0 win at Potten End in Arlon Printers West Herts League Division Three on Saturday.

The team was led by experienced captain Dave Townsend, who commanded the whole of the midfield in a dominant performance.

Connor McGrath had a fierce rising drive tipped over the crossbar whilst both Jack Ray and Tim Fretter went close with headers which just cleared the target following good corner kicks from Connor McGrath.

Stuart McGrath and his brother Connor both had a free-kicks saved and George Dale saw his low drive flash past the far post by only a couple of inches.

But the Blueboys finally got the goals their attacking play deserved and they all came in the space of four minutes.

First Townsend played the ball to Connor McGrath, who fired his effort past the keeper. Two minutes later it was 2-0 when Townsend again found the goalscorer and he unleased a powerful shot into the net.

Connor McGrath completed his hat-trick when he broke away and fired his effort into the corner of the net.

He almost managed to score his fourth of the game but another effort was blocked by the keeper’s leg.

Dale then had a shot blocked on the line whilst Connor McGrath had a header cleared of the line at back post after his brother had curled over a fine corner kick.

A waterlogged pitch meant London Colney’s home game with Kings Langley was postponed on Saturday.
