St Albans Hockey Club ladies Seconds won Division One of the East of England Hockey League after a 3-0 victory over Bromley and Beckenham at Oaklands on Saturday.

The Tangerines, captained by Ann-Marie Davenport and coached by Dick Ashby, have held their position at the top of the table for most of the season and secured promotion to the Premier League with three games left to play.

Sarah Embrey struck twice and Fiona Nekeman also found the net to ensure a promotion party for St Albans.

In the Investec National League, the ladies Firsts took three points from Sevenoaks in a 2-1 victory at home.

An unstoppable reverse-stick strike from England international Ellie Watton and a well-taken penalty stroke from Amy Kee has put the side joint third in the league.

Success for the women’s teams continued throughout the weekend with the ladies Thirds winning 3-0 against Hertford after goals from Amy Lynn (2) and Sarah Mobbs.

The Fifth team beat Letchworth 2-1 with goals from Nikki Davis and Rachel Jones.

The Ladies Vets booked their place in the semi-finals of the England Hockey Masters over-35s Cup by winning 3-1 away to Taunton Vale on Sunday with goals from captain Liz Cleverly (2) and Sarah Embrey.

St Albans men also enjoyed a successful weekend with the Fifths beating Winchmore Hill and Enfield 3-0 after Roland Waller, Nathan Murley and Alistair Sykes found the net.
