St Albans Hockey Club ladies Vets face a trip to Bowdon Hightown on Sunday as they bid to reach the final of the over-35s England Cup.

After beating Taunton Vale 3-1 in the quarter-finals, the Vets are now just one game away from the final at the Lee Valley Olympic Park.

In league action, the ladies first team claimed a 2-0 victory against Horsham at Oaklands on Saturday. Sarah Embrey and GB international Ellie Watton both found the net for the home side.

The Seconds had a comfortable 1-0 win against Brentwood after Embrey converted from a penalty corner and the Fourths secured three crucial points after winning 3-1 against Tring with goals from Sarah Mobbs (2) and Jodie Carter.

The ladies Fifths were 12-0 winners against Luton with Nikki Davies (4), Gemma Little (3), Jordan Beaumont-Wraith (3), Rachel Jones and Chloe Monroe all scoring for the Tangerines.

In the men’s games, the Fourths beat Harpenden 5-3 with goals from Duncan Fraser (2), Abheek Dutta, Dillon Kurani and Sam Winter.

The sixth team won 2-1 against West Herts with Nick Mulvaney and Ed Bevin on the scoresheet.

A goal from Tom Mulqueen gave the promoted eighth team a 1-0 victory over Southgate Pirates.

The men’s first team entertain Cambridge University this Saturday at Oaklands.
