London Colney thrashed Ampthill Town 4-0 on Saturday to move up to third in the South Midlands Premier Division.

The Blueboys extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches after their latest victory. It was also their 16th clean sheet in a superb run of form which has seen them surge up the table.

Colney got off to a bright start as Greg Shaw’s strike was kept out after being tipped round the post by Jack Ambler.

Danny Fitzgerald sent in a dangerous cross but Sam Doolan’s header was well held by Ambler. The keeper was also alert to keep out efforts from Spencer Clarke-Mardel and Shaw.

But Ambler could do nothing about the opening goal after 28 minutes when Stef Geraldes released James Ewington and he fired the ball into the corner of the net.

The hosts doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when Clarke-Mardel found Shaw and he blasted his shot past Ambler.

London Colney were rampant and quickly extended their lead when Geraldes laid the ball back for Clarke-Mardel to net from eight yards out.

The Blueboys were not sitting back and it was no surprise when they scored their fourth of the game. Substitute Archie McClelland raced in to head the ball home from close range after a chip from Ewington.

London Colney host Oxhey Jets this Saturday.

The Reserves claimed a 3-2 win at Baldock Town after a brace from Cain Davey and one from Niall Lysaght.

London Colney Blues also won 3-2 away at Caddington thanks to efforts from Luke Oosario (2) and Samuel Olaiwole.

The Blues Reserves defeated Global 2-0 in the semi-final of the Holloway Trophy through George Dale and Micky Shuttleworth goals.
