St Albans City have continued their preparation for next season by agreeing new contracts with James Comley, Steve Wales and Michael Malcolm.

Comley, who played for England ‘C’ and the Montserrat national team last season, has pledged his future to the club after signing a new one-year deal to remain at Clarence Park.

The midfielder told the club website: “St Albans has a huge place in my heart and everyone at the club made it clear they wanted me to stay.

“The reaction from the supporters has also been top class and I’m looking forward to the new season.”

City have also agreed terms with strikers Wales and Malcolm to remain at the club next season as they compete in their second Conference South season.

Both players have committed their future to the club after negotiations with joint-managers James Gray & Graham Golds.

It follows the news last month Lee Chappell, midfielder Sam Corcoran and player of the season Joe Welch all agreed to stay at the club.

The Saints have sent their condolences to Andy King’s family after the former St Albans City midfielder died last week at the age of 58.

King was most well known for his time at Everton enjoying two spells at Goodison Park. Luton-born King also played for the Hatters, Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

King played for the Saints during the 1988-89 season at the end of his career on the pitch.

His first run out for the club, when he was living in Markyate at the time, came in November 1988 as City went down 3-1 to a Tottenham Hotspur XI in a friendly at Clarence Park.

His sole competitive game for the Saints was the following month in a 1-0 defeat to Dulwich Hamlet.

In a tribute on the Saints website, the club said: “We send our condolences to Andy's wife Barbara and their family at this very sad time.”
