St Albans City Youth Under-9s emerged victorious at the annual Evergreen six-a-side tournament.
After a couple of comfortable 4-0 victories in their opening two group games, the club secured a pair of 1-1 draws to see them through to the last eight.
A hard-fought 2-1 win over Sarratt followed, with goals from Archie Hobbs and Benjy Stone, before a 3-0 win in the semi-finals, where a brace from top-scorer Zak Davies and another goal from Hobbs took them into the final to face Harpenden Colts.
It was a tight affair, and despite another goal from Davies, his sixth of the tournament, after extra time the two sides were still level at 1-1. In the ensuing shootout, St Albans' skill from the penalty spot proved too much for the Colts, coming away 4-2 winners to be crowned champions.
