Matthew Hails will compete at Wimbledon
St Albans Lawn Tennis Club teenager Matthew Hails will play on the grass courts at Wimbledon next month after making the National Finals of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon competition.
The competition was first held in 2002 and is the largest junior grass-court tournament in the UK, giving under-14s from over 850 clubs and schools the opportunity to play at SW19.
To qualify, 13-year-old Hails had to win a competition at the local club and a regional tournament at Queenswood. In total, he came through seven games without dropping a set.
