A flurry of second-half goals gave Harpenden Town a 4-2 win in their first South Midlands Division One game of the season at Arlesey Town Reserves on Saturday.

Arlesey took the lead before the break when Jordan Leech-Levy slotted home.

Two minutes into the second half Harpenden's Jimmy Hartley crossed for Jimmy Hill to side-foot the ball past the keeper to draw level.

The visitors took the lead 20 minutes from time when Hartley beat the keeper from a tight angle.

Harpenden made it 3-1 with 12 minutes to go when Liam Kenna headed the ball into the net.

Two minutes later Ed Frost pounced on a parried shot to slot the ball into an empty net and right at the end Arlesey's Leech-Levy floated a ball from the left into the top corner of the net.

Manager Danny Plumb said: "This was a great start to the season because we had to use players out of position due to injuries.

"We had a back four with two new centre halves in Liam Kenna and Joel Watson who did really well and Mike Davies at right back was superb.

"We have got to concentrate on building our squad and that is my priority now."
