London Colney edged through to the second round of the FA Vase after a late goal in their 2-1 home win over Eastern Counties outfit Great Yarmouth on Saturday.

The Blueboys made a fast start and had a couple of early efforts but the visitors kept them at bay.

As the first half drew to a close Jon Clements slipped the ball to James Ewington whose fine strike brought off a good save from Liam Hembling as he tipped the ball around his near post.

It was nearly 1-0 when Ewington's strike struck the upright as the match stayed level heading into the second half.

The hosts fell behind against the run of play after 59 minutes when Sean Perfect's cross was fired home by Jay Turner.

But it only took 11 minutes for London Colney to level the tie after Danny Fitzgerald was fouled in the penalty area. Greg Shaw stepped up and blasted his spot-kick into the net.

An almighty scramble saw the visitors survive after Tom Smith's strike crashed off the bar.

But with only two minutes left before injury time London Colney scored the winner after Smith glanced a header into the net to send them into the next round.

The Reserves won 3-0 away at Sun Postal with two goals from Cain Davey and one from Dan Burrows.

London Colney Blues lost 2-1 to JSC Utd with Matt Drinkall scoring their only goal of the match.

The London Colney Blues Reserves had a good win playing Bovingdon A with Alex Howard scoring a brace plus singles from George Dale, Mick Shuttlewood and Simon Dykyj.
