St Albans returned to winning ways after a 73-run victory over Allenburys & County Hall to keep them top of Herts Division 2B.

Choosing to bat first, the Saints started well with Jonny Hall, playing his first match of the season, scoring quickly in making 32 before being run out going for a third run.

Adam Hounslow, for 29, and Goodfellow, 14, fell in quick succession. Becks Mabuza added 65 with Matt Howeson in 11 overs before the captain’s departure led to the last seven wickets falling for 52 runs in 16 overs. Mabuza finished with 66 from 85 balls before he too was run out going for a fourth run as the side were dismissed for 194.

Allenburys struggled to score quickly from the start. Jacob Winfield struck with his first ball and although 27 runs were added for the second wicket the scoring rate was slow.

Mabuza’s two wickets included the quick scoring Andrew Szemiako but it became a matter of when rather than if the Saints would win.

Max Capaldi picked up four wickets with only Chris Graves offering any resistance. There was a wicket each for Rosson and Charlie Smith with two for Jacob Winfield.

The side clinched victory with 13 overs to spare and will host Bushey this weekend.

St Albans Seconds suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in Division Four B after a seven-wicket defeat to Hemel Hempstead Town Thirds.

The side were all out for 119 in 41 overs which never looked like being enough. Hemel knocked off the runs in 26.1 overs.

St Albans Thirds eased to a 135-run victory over Reed Thirds in Division Eight A.

Ashish Dean (36) and Naveed Ahmed (35) made a solid start. Harry Saunders top scored with 37 as the side posted a total of 202 for seven.

A brilliant performance from Dean saw him take eight for 21 as Reed were skittled out for just 67.

St Albans Fourths suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Berkhamsted Thirds in Regional Division A West.

The side were bowled out for 78 and Berko won in 18.2 overs.
