St Albans Swimming Club’s A team secured a comfortable victory in the second round of the Hertfordshire Peanuts League for nine to 12 year olds.

The team were swimming at Potters Bar and despite some stiff competition ran out comfortable winners with 104 points.

The Under-nine girls team, which consisted of Pippa Samols, Yasmine Meadows, Charlotte Nicholson and Raissa Vickery, put in an excellent performance as they finished in first place in all but one event.

Not to be outdone, the Under-13 boys team of Oscar Brice, Joseph Pannese, Ciaran Cook, Kieran Birkett and Edward Richardson topped the leaderboard in four events.

St Albans’ second team were also competing in Stevenage in Division One and they finished in fifth place with 218 points.

Libby Loucaides did well in the nine-year-old breaststroke, pushing hard to take second place, and Dan Martin also took second spot in the Under-13 freestyle.

Kate Chadwick, development coach at City of St Albans, said: “We’re incredibly proud of both teams’ achievement. Our Under-nine girls in particular put in a commendable performance for such young swimmers, all of whom are relatively new to competition. We’re now hoping for a clean sweep at the third and final round on July 9.”
